Need advice on a nanny candidate

So, I just had an interview yesterday with a candidate who was great when we screened her with back and forth messages and a phone call. She also has a couple of decent/good references and is currently in school but wants a summer nanny position. This is fine for us because it would be cheaper to have her as a summer nanny than to pay a summer camp for the summer. However, when she came to her interview yesterday, she came with her mom. I was not prepared for this and as a result I don’t think the interview went as I intended it to go. What are your thoughts on her bringing her mother and does this raise any flags that I should be worried about? Other than this situation, she seemed like a nice girl.

The fact that her mom came with her is an immediate red flag for me, seems a little bit suspicious. Did you ask her why her mom was there?

Depending on age it should be ok for her to bring her mom.first appearance count as well. Just go with your gut feeling. If you hire her to give her training days to see how the bond is with your child when you around and not around.

that’s a great perspective, thanks for the input!
